Since 1970 I have been involved in music; initially as a musician at the time that I played with my top 40 band (Turnpikeband) as guitar player and singer in many venues in and outside the Netherlands.
For more than 15 years we performed with the band and I learned everything about the music and the industry relative to performing, repertoire, recording, mixing and cd releases but also about the equipment which is needed for backline and PA and sound amplification in general. Another aspect of what I learned was how to interact, as an artist or band, with your audience and to understand what the public likes and dislikes.
At that moment I started my own music company called JR Productions (JRP) to be able to help other artists and musicians with their career and started to book for them and had built a recording studio to facilitate my musical colleagues and further developed my own musical skills by playing in other bands and or ensembles (Jumping Jewels, Zhingg).
More and more I became interested not only in the artistic,
technical or recording aspects of music but also in the organizational elements like PR, touring, artist development and management. This business part of the music scene also interconnected with my education as IT business consultant so in this way I combined my ICT profession with activities in music under JR Productions; in such a way I was able to develop my skills in two directions, both in business and in music.
I worked with many famous and less famous Dutch artists and became manager for one of the most well-known Dutch blues bands Livin’ Blues for over 10 years; we toured in many European countries and even in Asia to perform at numerous festivals.
For a few years now I have put all my focus on songwriting and producing in various styles, collaborating with lyricists, singers and topliners all over the world and became a platinum member of The Songwriting Academy UK. On this website you can find some of my work under the Music Page.
It never ends
Passion never dies. It grows
Music has so many aspects. It is an everlasting journey to discover and learn the variety of all its elements. Not only harmony and melody but also rhythm, syncopation, articulation, phrasing and dynamics are key in music.
In contemporary music but also in music of ages ago. I feel privileged to be able to spend my life with music and to have a journey that will never end.
